Are you above the age of 65 years? Or have some kind of disability? If you answer yes then you must apply for the Florida Medicare Plans as soon as possible. The person must be either the citizen of USA or the permanent residence to be eligible to avail from various FL Medicare plans. Those who are below the age of 65 years but are disabled or have ESRD (End-stage renal disease) can also apply for these Florida Medicare plans.

Florida Medicare Plans are of two types: Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans and are divided into different categories. Let us know about these categories.

Part A or Hospital Insurance: This insurance is free for all the US citizens and permanent resident and covers inpatient care in hospitals, home health care and hospice etc.

Part B or Medical insurance: This insurance is optional as the patient has to pay some amount as premium every month and gets cover for various medical necessities such as home health services, doctor’s services, outpatient care and durable medical equipment etc.

Part C: This is also called as the
Florida Medicare Advantage plans or Medigab. The Florida Medicare supplement is offered by the private companies and is an addition to the original Medicare plan which combines the plan A and Plan B together in one plan. This covers prescription drug coverage, travel insurance while traveling abroad and preventive health care benefits. Different types of Florida Medicare supplement are HMO (Health Maintenance Organization), PPO (Preferred Provider Organization), PFFS (Private fee-for-service plans) and SNP (Special needs plans).

 


 

Part D or Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage: Plan A and B do not cover prescription drug coverage, which is covered in this plan D. To enjoy the prescription drug coverage, you must join the plan run by Medicare or other private insurance company approved by Medicare. One can enroll for plan D if he is enrolled with Plan A and B but will likely to pay late enrollment penalty.
